Story Behind The Song = "Snowdrift"
This week's dispatch comes from Danny:
When I (Danny) was a little kid growing up in St. Louis, I loved the snow. It didn't happen all that often, but when it did, snow meant 'no school, hot chocolate, biscuits, and sledding at Art Hill.' But after having spent this harsh and seemingly interminable winter in Boston my attitude towards snow has changed. I still appreciate the beauty of it - the quiet, the cold, the slow disappearance of the dirt into the white. But I also now have a better sense of the dread that can precede a real blizzard and the threat that comes with howling of the wind.
In this week's Perennial, Snowdrift, we've tried to capture the sensibility of a big storm - part ominous and angry, part beautiful and wild. It starts small, but gradually, unstoppably builds to a crescendo, and then, finally, fades away.
