After a long drive from Portland and a great show at Slim's we didn't get that much of a chance to enjoy all the tastes of San Francisco, but I was able to squeeze in a quick stop at my favorite dim sum place, Ton Khiang
, for some dumplings and egg custard rice cakes to go.
My cousins Mo and Jason turned me onto this place when I came out to visit for Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival - it's on Geary at 22nd and it rules. They have some of the best potstickers and dim sum I've ever had (and I love me some dim sum.) Although, I had to take it to go, I was still able to enjoy the balance of pork and cabbage and the chewy, lightly-fried dough. Also, I'm used to eating egg custard filled rice cakes at room temperature after gorging on a full dim sum meal, but these were hot and it brought them to a whole new level - this is indeed the way to order these and as usual - Ton Khiang didn't disappoint.
